Hello all! I am having a bit of an issue and I am at my wits end with
it. I am not sure if my problem is being caused by ManageEngine or if it
is being caused by the program that I am trying to update.
Anyway, here is the issue. Where I work we have a specific program
that we are trying to upgrade. The program has a .exe file by the name
of "Upgrade". Now, if I go through ManageEngine >
Software Deployment > Create a Package and try to deploy it, it
will say in ManageEngine that the deployment was a success yet the
program never actually upgrades. The path for the program upgrade
isn't anything special. It is just C:\ProgramFiles\Item
Capture\Upgrade.exe. When setting up the deployment package to run it,
like I said, it states it succeeded when really it didn't actually upgrade.
Another interesting part to this; when I check the upgradelog.txt
file it will show the upgrade started and then exactly 10 seconds
later, stopped.
THE ONLY WAY I CAN GET THIS TO WORK: Currently, if I manually click
the Upgrade.exe file it will upgrade with no problems at all. Or, if I
setup "Launch Application" configuration through
ManageEngine I can get it to run. The only issue with doing that is
that I can't schedule when to launch the application. We need the
upgrade to happen in the middle of the night when no users are on or
active. Currently the only way the launch application method works is
when the user first logs in, it runs. This wont do.
Any ideas or suggestions? Do you guys think it is ManageEngine or
the upgrade file itself? It seems like I have tried everything and
nothing (practical) seems to work.
The systems are all running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
