Re : I can deploy Internet Explorer 11 to computers that have IE8 or IE9 installed, but am receiving Unknown Error Code 40024 if the computer has IE10 installed. Any ideas?

Hello whudson, 

Upon reproducing the reported issue in our local test lab, we didn't face any issue as you reported. However after analyzing the log, we found that the system missed some files while deploying IE 11 which is specific to the machine and not the product failure. You can follow the below steps to overcome this issue.

Solution  1: 
Solution 2: 
  • Download the copy of IE11 from Microsoft and run the installer manually. Please wait until it gets to the ‘Install Internet Explorer 11’ prompt (Please don't close this window). 
  • Navigate to ‘C:\Windows\temp’ and search for the most recently created folder with ‘IE’ at the beginning of it’s name. E.g. ‘IE1CF18.tmp’.
  • Open that folder and verify whether you can find the following two .cab files. 
  • IE11-neutral.Downloaded.cab and IE11-neutral.Extracted.cab.
  • If you can find those two files, please follow the next step. If you don’t, please go back to the earlier step and try with one of the other similarly named folders.
  • Now, substituting my example path with the one you determined in the last step, please run an elevated Command Prompt and enter the following commands in the order listed. 
  • dism.exe /online /add-package /packagepath:C:\Windows\temp\IE1CF18.tmp\IE11-neutral.Extracted.cab /quiet /norestart dism.exe /online /add-package /packagepath:C:\Windows\temp\IE1CF18.tmp\IE11-neutral.Downloaded.cab /quiet /norestart
  • After doing the above, kindly return to the ‘Install Internet Explorer 11’ prompt and click ‘Install’. It should successfully install with a bit of luck. 
  • Once it get succeeded manually, please deploy above mentioned two command lines to targeted machines using DC and then deploy Internet Explorer 11.

Hi Dan,

Please share me the below files to analyze the root cause of issue and shall assist you accordingly,

1. Package and Configuration export.

For Configuration export, Go to Software Deployment tab > View Configurations (Left Pane) > Click on the configuration name > EXPORT PDF (RightHandSide)
For Package export, Go to Software Deployment tab > Packages (Left Pane) > Click on the Package name > EXPORT PDF (RightHandSide)

2. Installable files to test in our local setup, Upload the complete software package

3. Agent machine logs

Problem with installing agent with .bat file and self-service

after installing agent with .bat file I have a particular issue where self service wont work. here are my screenshots.



The group is reading my windows 7 machine as VISTA? that would be incorrect.

BUT...


It is CORRECT in inventory...

Still doesn't explain why self-service is not displaying any of my packages



I believe I have found a bug..

1. Self Service portal: 

It may take sometime to get the information from the Desktop Central server after installing the agent. 

2. Custom Group: 

Please send an email to support "desktopcentral-support@manageengine.com" with the agent logs to check the root cause. 

Agent log: <Install_Dir>\DesktopCentral_Agent\logs [compress the entire logs folder]

Thanks for the reply. 

If you install the agent from the Desktop Central server, then it may be updated immediately since there is a communication when installing the agent.

 However, when you install the agent manually from the client machine it will be updated when the agent contact the server. So suspect that the communication issue from the agent. 

So you could also upload the agent logs from this client machine to analyze the issue further.

logs have been emailed to you already.

communication with server is instant. The console reports that agent is online and can perform all other functions besides self-service.

The troubleshooter would report errors if there wasn't any communitcation with the server.

Update: At some point today self-service finally started working. Thats wonderful and all but we need self-service to work immediatley after installing agent via .bat file, NOT more than 30 hours later.

Can not deploy Autocad

When I'm trying to install Autocad 2016 to a PC in regional office through Desktop Central I got this error:
"Either you haven't provided the silent switches or the silent switches are incorrect" .
